Just a reminder that our final presentation for the 2025-26 season is this SATURDAY, April 18, Metropolitan United Church, 7:30 P.M. Tom Allen will provide the commentary for The Brahms Effect. Clarinetist Graham Lord and the London Symphonia String Quartet, Joe Lanza, violin, Emile Pare, violin, Kelvin Enns, viola, and Ben Bolt-Martin will perform the Brahms Clarinet Quintet and other pieces. His past performance of the Mozart clarinet quintet was a highlight of the Serenata Music series in 2016.
At our January 17 Lara St. Join concert We anticipated a spectacular performance of Avner Dorman's Violin concerto No.2, Nigunim, and were not disappointed. The work varies from quiet understated moments to wild Gypsy and Klezmer like fiddling. Her encore with bassist Joe Phillips and cellist Ben Bolt-Martin wowed the audience with their improvisations. Guest conductor Nicholas Ellis' thoughtful interpretation of Mendelssohn's Midsummer Night's Dream overture and Copeland's Appalachian Springs Suite added to the musicality of evening.
