Lara St. John, A HIGHLIGHT OF THE SERENATA MUSIC SEASON.
We anticipated a spectacular performance of Avner Dorman's Violin concerto No.2, Nigunim, by St. John and were not disappointed. The work varies from quiet understated moments to wild Gypsy and Klezmer like fiddling. Her encore with bassist Joe Phillips and cellist Ben Bolt-Martin wowed the audience with their improvisations.
Nicholas Ellis' thoughtful interpretation of Mendelssohn's Midsummer Night's Dream overture and Copeland's Appalachian Springs Suite added to the musicality of evening.
We now look forward to our final presentation, April 18, Tom Allen will provide the commentary for The Brahms Effect. Clarinetist Graham Lord and the London Symphonia String Quartet, Joe Lanza, violin, Emile Pare, violin, Kelvin Enns, viola, and Ben Bolt-Martin will perform the Brahms Clarinet Quintet and other pieces.

Canadian Guitar quartet
The Canadian Guitar Quartet, featuring Julien Bissaillon, Renaud Côté-Giguère, Bruno Roussel and Louis Trépanier
Since its debut in 1999, the Canadian Guitar Quartet has toured extensively in North and South America, from one standing ovation to the next, establishing a reputation as one of the finest guitar ensembles in the world. The CGQ has appeared with orchestra across Canada, and has recorded three critically acclaimed CDs.
The quartet has been broadcast on both CBC and Radio-Canada, has had a special performance feature on Bravo! Television, was featured in the webcast at Chicagoâs Northwestern University, on CBCâs overseas networks, and in various international magazines.
