The Serenata Music program featuring Graeme Lord , clarinet, and the London Symphonia String Quartet with commentary by Tom Allen was a fitting end to our 20th season. The eclectic choice of music (Gerald Finzi, from Five Bagatelles, Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, from Clarinet Quintet, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, from Clarinet Concerto in A Major, Steve Reich, New York Counterpoint, and Brahms, Quintet for Clarinet and Strings in B Minor Op. 115) provided the audience with much to absorb. Mr. Allen s commentary added to the evening s pleasure. Graeme Lord s empathic playing of the Brahm s quintet contrasted to the jolting Steve Reich piece in which Mr. Lord played solo against 10 clarinet lines which he had previously recorded. it was an artistic tour de force. We look forward to hearing moire from Mr. Lord.

SERENATA MUSIC 2026-27 SEASON ARRIVES SOON.
Serenata Music continues our collaboration with the London Symphonia and this year with the Jeffrey Concerts.
Our program this year begins on Saturday, October 17, 2026, 7:30 P.M. with the London Symphonia. James. S. Kahane, the new conductor of the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra, will make his debut with the orchestra. Canadian violinist Kerson Leong will return to play the World Premiere of Yinyang, the violin concerto by Londoner Scott Good. Mahler Symphony No.1, The Titan will complete a tremendous musical evening.
On Sunday, October 25, 2026, 4 P.M. we will collaborate with the Jeffrey Concerts by presenting The Musicians from Marlboro. They are a group of talented musicians who teach and perform at the Marlboro Music Festival in Vermont. This is the fourth year that we have had them play in London.
We continue with the London Symphonia on Saturday, February 6, 2027, 7:30 P.M. with London cellist Cameron Crozman who will play the Elgar Cello Concerto in E Minor. Cosette Justo Valdez will return to conduct the Symphony No.5 Tchaikovsky
Finally we are pleased to sponsor the London Symphonia concert on Saturday, April 10, 7:30 P.M. honouring Concertmaster Joe Lanza who will retire from the orchestra after 40 years. Joe has chosen excerpts from Bologne, Haydn, and Mozart to give us a view of the best of Baroque.
